It's a NEW year and goals are in the air. Am I right? Setting goals is so much more than just a thought and an action. It's a process. Whether it's a big or small goal it takes a lot to set it, follow through with it, and actually accomplish it. Many people start the new year strong. Then February comes around and the hype is either slowly dying down or already dead. I've been there and done that plenty of times.
Whenever a thought comes to mind I take note. It may not be an idea I can develop right then and there but at least I have something I can go back to and brainstorm on. Having record of my thoughts or ideas that come to mind allows me to create a vision with clarity. To do so, I set S.M.A.R.T goals.

IS THIS GOAL REALISTIC?
HOW IS THIS GOAL ALIGNED WITH ME & MY LIFE
WHEN CAN THIS GOAL BE ACHIEVED?
Once I've outlined my goals and break them down I get to work by developing a system to start and stay organized along the way. This is where my love for lists and schedules come into play. Creating habits is a good way of holding yourself accountable by maintaining focus and discipline through the process. Developing a system and creating habits go hand in hand.
It's important to surround yourself with people that have a desire to learn and grow. Step out of your comfort zone and network with others. Ask for advice and empower anyone you can along the way...don't wait until you've "made it" to do so. There's always we can learn from and teach to others.
Throughout every step of the way take time to reflect. No goal is easy but any goal that means something to you is worth working for. Learn from the failures and celebrate all your wins. Whatever you do, believe in yourself and keep going!
