Who doesn't love Nutella? If you have a sweet tooth like I do then it's probably at the top of your list of chocolates too. It goes well with just about anything. My favorite way to eat Nutella is spread over toast, as a dip for fruits, or straight out of the jar with a spoon. I used to buy Nutella often and it never lasted long enough. However, it's been a while since I last purchased a jar. I actually removed it from my grocery list altogether due to the amount of sugar in just one jar. According to Nutella’s nutritional label, a serving of the spread (37 grams or two tablespoons) contains 21 grams of sugar. That's more sugar than any other ingredient so I decided to create my own Nutella. It's so easy to make, tasty (so close to the original) and a much healthier version.
1 cup Hazelnuts
2 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 tbsp coconut oil
3 tbsp raw cacao powder
4 tbsp maple syrup
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 cup almond milk
Blend hazelnuts in food processor high speed blender, until the nuts form a paste
Add remaining ingredients and blend until it's a creamy consistency
Transfer to a glass jar, seal, and store at room temperature
NOTE: If your Nutella isn’t as sweet as you'd like it to be, add 1-2 tbsp agave.
