Beauty & Wellness: Coconut Oil

Oil pulling

I’ve made a habit of oil-pulling at least five times a week. The steps are simple. Swish a tablespoon of coconut oil in your mouth for about 20 minutes. Rinse it out with warm water then proceed to brush your teeth. Oil pulling helps whiten teeth. It pulls bacteria and kills those germs that cause bad breath and gum disease, it acts much like a mouth wash.

Make-up remover

All you need to remove your make-up is coconut oil and your choice of q-tips, cotton balls or pads. It doesn't get simpler than that. One jar of coconut oil can replace all those make-up remover bottles you may have stashed in your bathroom.

When it comes to coconut oil, a little goes a long way. It’s the ideal natural skin moisturizer that keeps your face and body hydrated and glowing. Apply coconut oil on your legs and thighs before you shave. This helps prevent irritation and it leaves your skin feeling and looking so smooth.

Create an all natural, gentle, yet effective face and body scrub by using coconut oil as a base. Combine equal parts coconut oil and sugar and rub it on the desired area. The combinations you can create are endless. Play around with other all natural ingredients you may have in your home such as honey, oatmeal, or coffee to combine with the coconut oil.

Hair treatment

Coconut oil is great for your scalp and hair especially when it comes to fighting dandruff, frizz, and fly-aways. It also stimulates hair growth and adds shine.
